Dynamic Selections

Description

A Dynamic Selection is a saved list of values (usually IDs) that you can reuse as a filter in one or more reports. Instead of manually picking values every time you run a report, you let FAST remember (or re‑calculate) the list for you. There are two different types of dynamic selections. The first is where you create a temporary static list. When this type is created, you save it with an expiration of either 'End of Day' or 'End of Week'. The list does not change. The second is a permanent dynamic selection. FAST saves the query, not just the results. This is saved to 'never' expire. Every time you use the list, FAST runs the query, allowing the resulting list to be dynamic. To create the dynamic selection, run a report with all of the filters and conditions. Select 'dynamic selection' from the column header menu. Name the selection and choose your expiration preference. Now, go to a different report that has a compatible filter to your dynamic selection. Instead of selecting the values in the filter, choose the dynamic selection as the filter value and select your filter value. When you execute the report, the report results will only include those values within the dynamic selection. If you choose to pin the report, every time you execute the pinned report, the report will use the dynamic selection.
